After more than 40 years in downtown Macon, the Central Georgia Model Railroad Club found ourselves without a home. Our building in Central City Park was condemned in July 2011. We tore down our layouts and put everything in storage until a suitable location could be found. Fast forward 6 years, and no progress has been made in securing a permanent location. After considering all options available to us, we have decided to transform and become a modular club.

Part of this process involved deciding what to do with our traveling layout, which has resided in locations such as the Atlanta Airport and the Tellus Museum in Cartersville. Unfortunately, after 15 years of display, travel, and storage, the layout has become unusable without significant overhaul. This, and many other factors, led us to decide to build a modular layout. The vast majority of the traveling layout will take new form on our modular layout, as well as many surviving pieces of our old club layout from Central City Park. While this work will take a few years to get to a "complete" stage, we hope to begin displaying the new modular layout in the near future.

More information about a meeting location, meeting times, and further plans will be posted as we learn more. If you are interested in joining us in our new venture, please be sure to click on the "Contact Us" link in the upper left corner. We will be happy to provide more information.
